Unidentified corpse found burning in field

A dead body was discovered burning in an open field in east Oak Cliff on Sunday night.
Dallas Police Lt. Vernon Hale said witnesses heard voices and saw flames in the 700 block on Winters Street about 7:30 p.m. When they went to investigate, the residents discovered a burning corpse.
"We don't know whether he was killed at the scene or at another location," Lt. Hale said.
The body was burned so badly police could not determine race, sex or approximate age of the victim. The Dallas County medical examiner will establish a cause of death and attempt to identify the victim.
