US Attorney-General Ashcroft resigns

US Attorney-General John Ashcroft has handed in his resignation, just a week after US President George W Bush won a second term, a White House spokesman said.
Commerce Secretary Don Evans has also resigned, the spokesman said.

There are a couple of names I've heard, can't remember them off the top of my head. One would be the first Hispanic AG. From what I've heard of the gentleman, he seems imminently qualified. His appointment might be seen by some as pandering, window dressing, etc. But again, from the things I have seen printed about him and heard in interviews, he seems like a good candidate.
