Polygamous-sect leader Warren Jeffs revealed serious doubts about his role as a prophet during a conversation with his brother in jail, as seen in newly released video.

“I am not the prophet. I never was the prophet,” said Jeffs.

The video was taped months before a jury convicted Jeffs for being an accomplice to rape.

“They were deceived by the powers of evil,” Jeffs said of his followers.
His brother wept during the conversation.

“This is a test. You are the prophet,” said Jeffs’ brother.

“This is not a test. This is a revelation through His former servant… who was never His servant,” said Jeffs.

Utah judge has unsealed documents that show polygamist leader Warren Jeffs tried to kill himself before his trial in September.

The incident happened back in January. Guards say Jeffs tried to hang himself in his cell. Also, on several occasions, he threw himself against a wall and banged his head against the wall.

Those documents say Jeffs also confessed to "immorality" with a sister and daughter. Jeffs was convicted of being accomplice to rape. He's awaiting sentencing.

First he TRIES to be a prophet, and fails, then he TRIES to kill himself and fails, I wish he coulda gotten one of those right (guess which)

His followers. We care because...?

My point being, this guy is a nothing. Why glamorize his stupidity?

Cliff Notes version:
There was the LDS church...

LDS Church: "We believe in polygamy."
US Government: "We're maing polygamy illegal."
LDS Church: "OK, we no longer believe in polygamy."

But some of the members split off and made other LDS congregations, including the fundamentalist one. So this guy doesn't subscribe to the same LDS tenets as your rank-and-file Mormon.
