Water + laptop = ?

My roommate spilled water int he keyboard of her laptop. She says she took a hair dryer to it but the keys are not wokring properly. I have not seen it or anything myself yet.

In general though, what chances do you give for survival after such an accident?

I give it about a 1 in 10 chance of surviving. If she's lucky, all it shorted out is the keyboard, unlucky, the whole thing is toast.

ok, she said that they keys aren't pushing right

so, i don't know if she means they feel funny when she pushes them or if she means she turned it on and they didn't give her the right letters when she pushed them...

AARRGGHH!!!!

Never, ever turn on anything that got wet until you're sure all the water's outta it. Ever. Circuit boards can take days to dry out completely.

Tell her to leave it off and just take it somewhere to have it looked at.

I would have attempted to get it apart and see where it's still wet, but unless you think she knows what she's doing then tell her to take it somewhere.
