OITA -- Workers at a construction firm got a shock early Monday after several sticks of dynamite they tried to burn with other rubbish exploded, shattering windows of nearby houses.

Police said workers from the construction firm, based in the Kaku district of Nakatsu, Oita Prefecture, put five or six sticks of dynamite they had decided to dispose of in with a load of rubbish that was being burned at the firm at about 7:20 a.m. Monday.

The dynamite soon exploded, smashing the windows of seven houses belonging to residents living near the facility.

"We thought that if the detonators were taken out they wouldn't explode, and just burn normally, so we put them in with the other rubbish," a firm official was quoted as saying.

The dynamite that exploded was normally used for blasting work, police said. Police plan to question firm officials on suspicion of violating the Explosives Control Law. (Mainichi Shimbun, Feb. 10, 2003)
OK I will remember that.

 Thats where they burned the dynomite....Just look for broken windows. It can't be hard to find.

I'd look for a bunch of guys named Bubba. Can't be too far from there.

Sounds like it's in buttfuckistan. I don't care what they do with their dynamite there.:p

They're probably getting a little pissed about having to replace them again. Gotta wonder what those poor people thought when they heard the bang.

lol... Nagasaki is a pretty place. Its been completely rebuilt. But Japanese cuisine just don't do it for me. I'd rather go for that double cheeseburger Squiggy is saving up for ;)

I recall seeing a movie where they talked about dynamite being so stable that your could saw it, pound it, even burn it. But if it began to sweat ... Then the guy wiped a drop of sweat off a stick and threw it on the fire and Paff.

Might have been the Guns of Navarone. It had that look to it.

The "sweat" from dynomite is actually nitro-glycerine. It happens as the dynomite ages and they do become unstable then. But fresh dynomite is quite stable.

Last of the Dogmen. Starred Tom Berenger in 1995 or 1996.
