C'mon you numbskulls, get your asses over there & help fowl the air.

HANOI (Reuters) - Vietnam's biggest city, home to 10 million people, began slaughtering its ducks on Wednesday in an increasingly desperate fight to halt the spread of the deadly bird flu virus that has killed 13 people in the last month.

Health workers and inspectors in Ho Chi Minh City, accompanied by police, headed to farms to collect ducks, which can carry the H5N1 virus without showing symptoms, as well as pigeons being raised for food.

The birds would be killed by burning or being buried alive, an animal health official said a day after a Vietnamese doctor confirmed the death of the first Cambodian in waves of outbreaks that have now killed 45 people over the past year.

"After the killing, duck raising will not be allowed for one year," said the official at the city's Animal Health Department.

oh and humans dont fit in to cute animal apparently. I do support some of their ideals but most of the time I dont think I can support them fully
 
somehow, I don't think a large-scale epidemic which threatens the lives of human calls for PETA interference.

Besides, being an American Organisation and all - if they were that concerned wouldn't they just find an excuse to invade the country and start publicly using that as a chance to make a statement about animal rights for democracy?

As far as I know - Vietnam doesn't have PETA, I'm sure they care more about survival than protecting birds with a deadly virus that, left uncontrolled could have the potential to wipe out a significant percentage of the population - not to mention spread to other countries..

:shrug: I don't eat 'gourmet' food. Especially not pigeon...:sick: Those French people eat the strangest stuff...

From a man who eats collard greens cooked with smoked neckbones... :D
