ENRON!!!! What did he know & when did he know it??? The UN is miffed a the US. What about N Korea??? WHERE ARE THEY??? Bush lied.

These stories get center attention on the evening news. Whenever something like the following happens, it hardly appears at all :)20 seconds on ABC News, :35 on NBC, nothing in the NY Times).

I have only one question I'd like answered. For those of you who asked something to the effect of "Why didn't saddam use the weapons &/or why would he bury/hide them" my question is:Why would he hide (around) 35 fighter jets in the sand?

AMERICAN teams hunting for Iraq’s alleged weapons of mass destruction found dozens of fighter jets from Iraq’s air force buried beneath the sands, US officials say.

At least one Cold War-era MiG-25 interceptor was found when searchers saw the tops of its twin tail fins poking up from the sands, said one Pentagon official familiar with the hunt. He said search teams have found several MiG-25s and Su-25 ground attack jets buried at the al-Taqqadum air field west of Baghdad.

The Scotsman

If it's taken this long to find full size fighter aircraft don't push on the liter size bottles.

Um...Gonz....You don't bury a jet in the desert sand with hopes of reusing it....that would be totally assnine.

The reason there's not much focus on this story is that we're looking for banned weapons, which these aren't.

How can anyone answer? My guess is that they were destroyed in a desert sandstorm and left. Prolly not buried by anyone so much as covered by the desert sandstorms...

Weren't we told that the Iraqi Air Force had been destroyed by the last war? These planes seem to be in fighting form.

:eyebrow: Because their tailfins are sticking out of the ground? I really don't understand. If they are covered and if it was sandstorms, then they've been there quite a while. Thats like seeing a ships mast sticking out of the water in a harbor and wondering why they dock it underwater....

Actually this isn't news ,reports of buried planes and tanks were common knowledge before the invasion (sorry war).Even if it is just coming to light ,how useful/threatening is a plane/tank thats buried?

It was only the Bush gov. that was convinced about the WMD,buried planes were talked about by all Networks including Canadian Media.Buried planes/tanks don't pose much of a threat unless you trip over them .

They were aware Iraq had fighters and were prepared to defend against them,in fact there were fighters deatroyed at Sadam(Iraq) International Airport.

The Bush Gov. insisted that they knew where the WMD were and complained that the Inspectors simply weren't looking in the right places and weren't willing to give them TIME why now is the Cry of give the Army more time to search a valid defence?

He'll never give up, hes an American, so he'll argue and make parables till you get confused/tired and give up and say "yea you were right" :D
