Abuse of Iraqi prisoners

A question comes to mind.

Seeing as how this is horrendous no matter who it is inflicted upon: Would the Iraqi soldiers have done any less to U.S captives?

It goes without saying that strict action needs to be taken upon these individuals but what is their real punishment for rubbing salt where it would hurt these Muslim men the most: dehumanizing by degrading them in ways strictly forbidden by their religion, there reason for living, their system of beliefs.

Does the whole military condone this act? I seriously doubt it, but at what point did the need to survive turn to opression and enjoyment from humiliation of others is an amazing and scary thought.

The more I think about it the more I think it's an absolutely superb military strategy. The civilian politician takes the heat & the military tells every radical muslim that if you don't give up or allow our soldiers to kill you, our women soldiers will have absolute authority over you. It puts another fear into the enemy.
 
Ted Rall is on my blacklist as well. There's a difference between not supporting the war and/or the president and using any means necessary, no matter what he has to trample on, to "shock and awe" people into agreeing with him. His methods will ruin his credibility with everyone that doesn't agree with him and a good percentage of thsoe that do. In other words, his drivel is absolutely useless.

I'd even go so far as to say his total and complete lack of regard for the dead and for everyone in the service shown in his Pat Tillman cartoon places him in the same category as the SS and the prison torturers. That makes him a hypocrite in addition to being a closed-minded, arrogant, boorish asshole.

Should I ever get an editorial position at a newspaper, his work will not be showing up on the pages of that paper and I'm prepared to take any heat that would be directed my way for it.

Too bad that strategy has never worked, Gonz. At least not for long.

As for the ass who wrote the article, I'll bet he never saw anything military in his life except for a parade. His whole article is based on 1960's thinking and substance. Even Squiggy would disagree with that jerks assessment.
 
Humans in general are venal, self-absorbed, selfrighteous asses. Unfortunately, these are probably prerequisite for the evolution of inteeligence. The few who rise above this are rare indeed. Frankly, it surprises me that anyone is surprised by such behavior. Read a little history.

Chic he can live his life how he wants to and how he believes. same to all everywhere. why are you so intent on making him do right in your eyes? while I dont agree with almost anything he says he has a right to say it and believe it.
