Lucky SOB :D

A Royal Marine Commando who was shot in the head four times has lived to tell the tale of his lucky escape.

Eric Walderman's life was saved by his tough Kevlar helmet after he was caught in enemy gun sights during a savage firefight in Umm Qasr.

The four bullets ripped through the outer camouflage of the 25-year-olds' standard-issue helmet but were stopped by the ultra-tough protective Kevlar shell.

You'd kind of think so wouldn't you Squigg. Damn, no wonder he's smiling like it's prom night.

A buddy of my dads in Vietnam had a round penetrate the helmet on one side just above the ear and ricochet off the inside over the top of the guys head only to exit the helmet on the opposite side without ever grazing the guys scalp.
Picture the fake arrow through the head routine and you get the idea. I don't see how it's possible but he swears up and down it happened.

Yes...always wear your cover. Far as i'm concerned that chin strap is also there for a reason.

I've heard similar, but it was because the initial hit lifted the helmet off his head. Not clear, but enough that the top of his head was below the round as it passed. When it dropped back down on his head, it looked for all the world like it had passed right through his ears.

Maybe it did. :D  :D

As for the chin strap...I don't use mine. Concussion grenades are a bitch if you have it on...
