Will someone 'splain it to me?

If you only lose 15 of those stages by 5 seconds while your compettitors lose by 10... you pick up aggregate time. If you look at the other stages, no one really won more than one anyway. Its just a collective 'flash in the pans' for individual resume' padding.

Yep. Basically, the tour victory awards consistency. If you finish third, second, second, third and second, your average is a lot higher than if you finish first, third, ninth, tenth and first

I wouldn't really even call it that. The trouble is that all Lance does is train for the Tour de France while the other cyclists do all races around the world. Hes a specialized entity.
