Imminent infringement
Several sections of the ACTA draft show that rightsholders can obtain an injunction just by showing that infringement is "imminent," even if it hasn't happened yet.

wtf?
This will destroy the internet, period.
Also put many many out of work, dwarfing the current unemployment.

you're just too trusting bish...

Mr. B, what if (insert some political group you distrust) take power?
Do you feel the same with them controlling it?

Suppress the Internets now, there isn't a moment to lose!

Mr B yearns for government control of every aspect of his life.
Liberals find personal responsibility quite disagreeable.

What effect will this have on Nigeria? They run so many Internet scams, phishing expeditions, and frauds that they will likely be the next place all of the Bittorrent, P2P, etc. groups will move. The laws have no effect in a lawless land.

It's not 'control' - it's actually working the existing laws...ya know, punishing/stopping the illegals. Most of the stuff in there is already in existance where you are, cato..and has been for a while.

It's aimed at massive copyright infringment places... places where you can find copied movies, music, gamez etc... either p2p or business (see China and India).

This isn't about infringing on freedom of speech or summat, or of the press, of religion etc etc.. Some countries have tried that shit before... the funny thing is..it never works.

As for the 'political group I distrust' thing - the Conservative Party got a minority election a few years ago. I trust them about as far as I can throw a big-block engine. I also trust that if they fuck up badly enough, they'll get thrown out. It's come close twice in recent history. We've got a beautiful thing up here in our socialist haven that y'all should look into.

Vote of Non-Confidence.
In Canada, a non-confidence motion is a motion in the House of Commons, which, if passed, means that the government has lost the confidence of the House. The government must then either resign or ask the governor general to dissolve Parliament and call an election.

Votes on the Speech from the Throne and tax and spending bills are automatically considered to be votes of non-confidence.

Imagine Obama facing THAT kind of scrutiny.

no amount of law/regulation writing is going to make a difference in if it's enforced or not.

When laws are not enforced, NOTHING works.
