Annual Colorado Fires begin in Jan.

I thought the whole state was covered in snow. That would make hard for a fire to get going, much less burn 300 acres, I would think.

Colorado has multiple climate zones in a matter of just a few miles. There are strange things that can happen there... like the temp either rising or plumetting 30 degrees in an hour... snow on one side of the street only... craziness.

It was mostly nice when you were out here wasn't it Unc?

The mountains have TONS of snow on them now, but everywhere else is pretty dry and 300 acres is a really small fire in Colorado. It came up to the back door steps of some houses but no houses were burned. We are about 20 miles away from where it was.

To say more about the weirdness of the weather, today was about 65 and it might snow this weekend.
