Buck Owens dead at 76

LOS ANGELES — Singer Buck Owens, the flashy rhinestone cowboy who shaped the sound of country music with hits like "Act Naturally" and brought the genre to TV on the long-running "Hee Haw," died Saturday. He was 76.

I didn't know he was still around either. I drove past Buck Owens' Cryatal Palace on Buck Owens Blvd. several times when I was in Bakersfield for the state wrestling tournament.

Of all the musicians to ever become famous, for whatever reason my grandfather liked Buck Owens better than anyone else. Never understood that.
