Cockfighting is one of the more barbaric and disgusting aspects of living in the South. For the life of me, I cannot comprehend the attraction to it. I see the pens all over the place. It ain't illegal until they're actually killing one another for "sport". After a cockfight, the roads around the site are littered with dead chickens, discarded by their owners after they lose.

Newport and Del Rio are just up the road from me. A very rough, dangerous place. I advise tourists to steer clear of both.
