I read in a thread around here awhile back someone asking for an example of a government program that didn't screw things up. Don't remember who, but it just came to mind.

What about those channels that fall under the NOAA umbrella? In this part of the country, the NWS is pretty much the final word when it comes to weather observations and forecasts. Is it socialized weather service?

If you get it right 1/3 the time, you consider yourself successful.

In spirit of your thread, this falls under the "promote the general Welfare" clause.

Everybody is affected by weather.

NOAA is actually under the Department of Commerce, and I think NASA is on its own.
