Little problem

When I start up my computer, my screen is becomes all staticky and is filled with static lines in the transition between the Windows splash screen and the welcome screen (using WinXP). Any ideas of what the problem may be? Thanks

Try degaussing the screen.

And no, the static is only when I'm booting up.

The earth's natural magnetism can cause unwanted magnetic fields to build up inside a monitor, causing a loss of color purity. Degaussing removes these stray fields; for this reason, many monitors include a manual degaussing button.

Degaussing is the clank-buzz or clank-kssh sound the monitor makes when you turn it on. To degauss a monitor that doesn't have a manual degauss button, turn the monitor off, back on, and once the image is back on the screen, off again... lather, rinse, repeat.
