they're back...early in fact. love bugs are these swarming, nasty bugs that fly around while locked in the throes of passion. they make a mess of your car, your house, and they're just icky. we get them in the spring and fall. what i want to know is do you get them other places, besides the southern US?

Aaargh, love bugs - aye, the little critters make a mess of the front of your vehicle. A couple of years ago they were so thick it sounded like it was raining when you drove through a cloud of them. Fortunately they aren't too bad this year (here on the FL Panhandle). The worst part about them is the fact that their guts are acidic, they will damage your car's paint if you don't keep them washed off. Not to mention that they clog your radiator.

At least they aren't as big as Herbie. :lloyd:

My sister in Birmingham said she was infested with those things. Haven't seen hide nor hair of one in Huntsville.

Currently here in the Florida Panhandle, there are swarms of little yellow butterflies along the motorways - they are making a bigger mess of my truck than the love bugs. When one hits, it explodes into a mass of orange goo.

Did you get that nickname from Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix?

Loved the books (all of them) and the character Tonks if thats where you got it from.
