We don't know what he did but somehow Chance managed to tear three layers of his cornea in his right eye. Here is a shot of the little guy after we got him back from the vet. He's still feeling the effects of the drugs they gave him to put him under.

He's gonna be like this for the next couple months then if it doesn't heal on it's own he's gotta go see a specialist to have some kind of graph done.

:(

I felt like shit when I took him in. We noticed it Saturday and thought it was a minor infection. Figured we would take him in on Monday to get some meds for it. Instead, it was a injurgy to eye itself.

Aw, that makes me so sad. My cat scratched her cornea and we made weekly trips to the vet for her and right after she was finally rid of it, her kidneys failed. :( Hey, don't feel too bad, I'd have lost my cat sooner if we hadn't gone on vacation, they discovered her diabetes when she was boarded at the vet's for that week. I doubt I'd have noticed the diabetes as well as they did.

Right now he's sleeping like a log. That stuff they put him out with is still having a effect on him. The wife person was able to eat her burrito's with the puppy on her lap and he never budged.

Gonna be a rough couple of months for though with that eye sewn up. He's having a hard time walking around without walking in circles.

Aw man. I hate having hurt dogs. Nice to know chance has some good parents that took care of him though.

He'll learn to walk with the eye problem. When it heals, he may have to learn to walk again with both eyes back to normal.

Aw, poor puppy! Don't worry too much about it though - you didn't know that it was an actual eye injury, and I'm sure he will be fine soon. We just thought my pup was being finicky. Now that we've finally got him on insulin, my doggie is even better than he was before we found out he had diabetes (as many of you might remember, he almost died). I'll be thinking of you and the pup!

It's an injury all right. There is a tear through the first three layers of the cornea. He's doing a little better today. He's still sleeping a lot, but he is a bit more active. He isn't whining or crying so he's not in pain. Every once in a while he trys to get his paw up there. I think he think there is somehting that is blocking his eye that he can bat away.
