One thing. If the insuarance does write it off, do not let them have the carcass. It's still yours. A friend had an older car written off like that. Damage wasn't even all that bad, just the car wasn't worth the repair to the insurance. They scrapped it, and took the carcass.
But I know a body shop who specialises in buying those very same scrap cars and fixing them up for resale anyways. Since the time cost for them is a quarter of what they charge retail, they can fix them up quick and gt them back out (inspected) on the road, and pocket the difference.
