nasa grounds shuttles

cracks have been found in the engines of atlantis and discovery and the entire space shuttle fleet have been grounded as a result, while nasa check out the others.

columbia's launch on 19th july has been but back.

bummer, hopefully something they can fix easily though.

That sucks. It's time for a new type of launch vehicle. Too bad they keep scraping ideas for new ones due to budget cuts.

building a new range of shuttles would be a tad expensive, do you think they can trade in the old-ones, part exchange, low mileage?

They are well past their service life. The problem with reusable stuff is that people forget that they're not supposed to be good for ever. Like rechargable batteries.
