The penny will be getting not just one new look next year, but four of them.
The U.S. Mint unveiled the new designs during a ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington.

The changes in the 1-cent coin are the first in 50 years. They're part of the next year's commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth.
Lincoln's profile will remain on one side of the coin. But the Lincoln Memorial will be replaced on the other side by the new images, with a different one being introduced every three months.
The images will be of a log cabin, a young Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln as a young lawyer and work on the Capitol dome that he ordered to continue despite Civil War as a symbol the Union would endure.
The first new penny is scheduled to go into circulation Feb. 12, Lincoln's birthday, and a new one every three months after that.
