The hair on his face is dirty, dreadlocked and full of mange.
He asked a man for what he could spare with shame in his eyes,
Get a job, you fucking slob's all he replied

wonderwall

really? i never really thought of it as a sad song...i always thought of it as a song of a new start...or hope of one anyway...it's it amazing the different things people get out of lyrics?

Oasis - Wonderwall

Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk along are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
I don't know how

Because maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now

And all the roads that lead to you were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
I don't know how

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one who saves me?
And after an
You're my wonderwall

Said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

I concur with Squiggy and unc, Yesterday and All by myself are very very sad songs.
suddenly, i'm not half the man i used to be...

when i was young i never needed anyone...

Now, for the women, a very sad one is: What's she like? - Roxette

Yeah, lyrics are always open to personal interpretaion.

I always saw the song being about a guy who starts out a hopefull dreamer, makes a series of mistakes in life and then goes back to his room looking to his Wonderwall for help.......because dreaming is a lot better than reality.

(The Wonderwall was the singers bedroom wall when he was a teenager......filled with posters of his heroes and idols)

i know what a wonderwall is....but i see it as a metaphor...but i've been out in left field before....

One that recently got me (of all times - during a karaoke night), is Air Supply's "Goodbye". Talk about sad! :crying6:
