-16= cos((2k+1)).pi) + i.sin((2k+1).pi)

Am I getting warm?

Take 4th route of both sides, plot Argand for various n and extrapolate, is that how you do it?

I am going back to the foot thread, I hate maths SO much.:grumpy:

No, not how I did it

I broke it up into the 4th root of 16 * 4th root of -1

Then it was 2 * (-1)^0.25

That then becomes 2* ((-1)^0.5)^0.5

That is then 2 * (i)^0.5

Nixy has it right. You don't have to use DeMoivre's Theorem... That isn't the right direction for this question anyways, battyboy ;)

Thanks. :)

Maths does suck big fat hairy donkey penis, though. It's a shame there isn't more art & music on my computer systems engineering course.

OK what about this then...

Let A =

[ 1 2 1 ]
[ 0 1 3 ]

Find matrix B such that AB = I sub 2 (a two by two identity matrix)

^^last post I read before running out scared. :D
