well my DVD player is just about at the end of its rope and I want to get a new one. I looking for a good quality player because i am trying to build a good quality home theatre but don't want to spend a whole crap load on a new player

I have a 51" Toshiba TV http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0770HDS0010062272&catid=23528

and a Pioneer THX amp http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10062087&catid=

I dont need an "upconverting" dvd player because my TV and amp both do that for me..

We have a Philco.

For audio:
Coax digital out.
Optical digital out.
6 analog outputs (decodes dolby digital).

Video:
composite
s-video
the other connection I forgot its name it is made of 3 rca cables, perhaps it is YUV ?

It can play all regions both PAL and NTSC.

I don't know if that brand is some subsidieary of phillips but the firmware and menus are almost the same except for the logo. In fact, the philco has some extras the phillips doesn't have.

Philco used to be part of Ford Motor Co. I'm not sure who owns the rights to it outside the US, but here Kmart sold radios, TVs, etc. stuff under that brand for a while. Later they started selling the same stuff under the White-Westinghouse brand, then Curtis Mathes.

I ended up getting a Samsung DVD-hd850 it had a few good features and a few hacks for it (region free and upconversion via component)
