I like most of those bands too, in fact I just saw The Other Ones (Grateful Dead without Jerry) a month or so ago.

Just curious though, do you listen to any new music?

Saw Prodigy at T in The Park in Scotland a few years ago. I'm not a big fan but it was awesome!
Mixmaster Mike... I missed Beastieboys at T in the Park cause our tent collapsed under the strain of the heavy rainful (that and we moved it when drunk to face a girls tent ;) )

No, I don't. My taste in rock music froze in the late eighties. There was always something nihilistic about rock and roll, and it seems to be getting worse and worse. I still like the bands I liked when I was young, because they keep me connected to my youth. I don't feel like following the trends in modern music as they make their long spiral 'round the toilet bowl, though. I'm sure there are some bands that are better than others, and maybe even a few that are no worse than the old stuff I listen to, but I just don't have the time or inclination to sort through them. :eh:

It's really strange when a persons musical taste gets "frozen", but it happens all the time. I don't think my father even made it into the 60's music....and I'm sure his father thought all the "rock" music of the 50's was horrendous as well.

I'm sure you were aware of older generations that thought ALL the bands you listed were utter trash. Each generation seems to share the opinion that the younger generations music is going down the toilet.

I'm sure there's some theories to explain this phenomenom.

Sorry, flavio, but Ards is correct. Of course, the music of the 80's was no joy to listen to, either. Try from 1974 to 1979. :D

Ards is correct about what?

Are you disagreeing with my notion that many people from every generation considers the younger generations music to be crap?

...and yes, the 80's was a dismal time for popular music, but it at least spawned some great bands like U2, REM, Metallica, and a lot of good punk.

Music getting worse and worse... :D

Notice the smilies, flavio. The smilies actually mean that was meant to be funny. ;)
