Courtney Charged With Assault With Deadly Weapon
June 8, 2004
Celebrity Justice has obtained a copy of a brand new charge filed against Courtney Love. And this time it involved assault with a deadly weapon likely to produce great bodily injury. The charge stems from an incident last April 25th, to which Los Angeles Police responded. According to documents from the District Attorney, Love assaulted a woman by the name of Kristin King by throwing a bottle and a metal flashlight at her.

"CJ" has learned that an arrest warrant was issued last week and Courtney is expected to surrender herself to authorities on Wednesday. This latest alleged assault happened at the very same house where Love got herself into hot water last October, that of her former manager and ex-boyfriend, music producer Jim Barber.

The police say in that previous incident, Love showed up at Barber’s house and became angry over the presence of another woman. Police say she broke windows at the home.

On this latest occasion, it was the presence of King who allegedly set off Courtney.

Just recently Love agreed to a plea bargain on her misdemeanor charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance, and part of her deal is to complete a drug diversion program. But she still faces two other charges of felony drug possession and assault charges from a recent nightclub incident in New York.

It is unknown how this latest charge will complicate Love’s other cases.

Anything used right or cleverly can be a dangerous weapon. Flashlight doesn't even require ingenuity to be deadly, it is a fairly blunt object. Even more so if loaded with heavy Double D batteries.

A news paper rolled up right can be put through a man's neck.

Thats a morningstar. Is the chain that makes the dif.

A common mistake that Hobart.....but yer good lady was right, tis the spikes that make the difference.

The mace was a blunt weapon traditionally used by Bishops in battle (blunt to prevent bloodshed, although how you prevent bloodshed by whacking someone on the head with a 10lb mace is anyones guess). A spiked mace, minus the chain, becomes classified as a Morning Star. The addition of the chain changes it to a Flail (or War Flail as they were called).

You can find a lil' more info here :)

Now I know what I have at home is a flail. But the spikes aren't as long as those.
