A lucky US gambler won nearly $US3 million playing the one-cent slot machines in a Nevada casino, scoring a world record in the process, the maker of the one-armed bandits said.
WOW.

Best I've pulled off was 1400 on the quarter slots, once. I don't go that often though, and when I do, it's just throwing in 20 and walking away.

What a dream come true this woman had!

But what she actually gets will be much less than that...a staggering amount none the less but much less than $3M

That's why real gamblers come to Montreal. We don't tax winnings as earnings. And if you leave it in a Mtl bank account, you don't have to pay taxes at home either.

You guys dont have an meshed national level taxation system beyond the provicial level?

Down here, the Feds are going to by-god get their cut... and on the spot at that.

Sure we've got federal taxes. Quebec is the only one that required you to file both prov and fed seperately. Everywhere else, you file federal, and they send the provinces their cut.

But winnings are winnings. Tax free moola.

Want the phone number for the casino?

Tax free quebec winnings

The taxes on winnings of that amount are at %49. Meaning that she'd still have over $1.5 million to play with. I'd be quite happy with that, thankyouverymuch.
