....oh my!

The original post to which I was responding said:

The Left is made up of Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Socialists.

Just like the right is made up of Fascists, Nazis, White Supremacists, Televangelists, and NeoCons.

Is Abortion, or is it not, one of the primary agendas of the Left and is it, or is it not, one of the planks of the Democrat party platform?

Nope, Choice is supported by many on the left and right though.

http://www.republicansforchoice.com/

Is not the Democrat party anti-business?

Nope, most Democrats actually work for or own businesses.

Do they not espouse higher taxes on "big" businesses?

Both sides levy taxes.

Is it not they who coined the terms "Big Oil", "Big Tobacco", etc.?

Don't know, can't find any info on who coined the terms.

Is it not the Democrat party which seeks to bring down those businesses and others?

No, personally I'm against corporate welfare and subsidies though.

Is welfare not a plank in the Democrat platform?

Social welfare reform is supported by Democrats and Republicans. The current administration is very into corporate welfare though.

A little dated but illustrates the point:

For example, the energy bill tha passed in the House and is being served up to the Senate once again contains nearly $30 billion (“That’s a B in bil-lion”-as Reagan used to say) in handouts to industry, including $11.3 billion for oil and gas company sub-sidies, in spite of record profits many had in 2002. There is also $18 billion in federal loan guarantees for the private construction of a gas pipe-line from Alaska to Chicago and $1.1 billion to build a nuclear reactor in Idaho to produce hydrogen. And, as Congressman Rahm Emanuel noted the LA Times, the family values GOP also included money for the Hoot-ers chain to build an energy efficient restaurant in Louisiana. It is great that Hooters cares, but should taxpayers subsidize it when veteran’s benefits and Pell Grants are being cut?

Now that the $401 billion Medicare “reform” bill has been passed, HMOs and PPOs will receive almost $80 bil-lion in Federal subsidies to admin-ister it while $140 billion will flow directly to pharmaceutical compa-nies. Is this the free market? Or is it a shameless thank you to Big Pharma, comapnies that direct 85% of their political contributions to the GOP?

http://www.democratsabroad.org/stay-informed/overseas-democrat/2004/03/002699.php

America, under a Democrat administration, ignored the murder of nearly one million people. The U.N., in standard cowardly fashion, pulled its peacekeeping forces out of Rwanda.

That was a nice ploy of yours to bring up Darfur WHICH IS IN SUDAN in a classic "Well they did it too" move. Rwanda is, was, and will ever be a Democrat scandal. Live with it.

Then Darfur is a Republican scandal. What does being in Sudan have to do with it?

I wonder if we could find any other genocides that occured under a Republican admin? Where is your point?

Is political correctness not a Leftist agenda?

I havn't heard any of the candidates running on that plank.

Is multicultuarism not a plank in the Democrat platform?

I haven't heard them running on that. Do you have a problem with culture?

Is not the immigration debacle a platform of the Left?

Both parties. Bush backed this bill right?

Bush: Immigration Bill "Right Thing To Do"

Has the Democrat party not stood for illegal immigration?

Bush did right?

Do they not try to protect these people from detainment and deportation? Are the organizations MECHA, AZTLAN, and La Raza not left wing organizations to which many Democrat legislators and politicians hold membership?

Have no idea what you're talking about.

Nearly the entire Democrat party, the party of the Left, stands against the war.

70% of the US citizens do.

With few exceptions, the Republican party stands with the President and his desire to see the Iraqi people free to self govern without a strongman dictator at the helm.

You'd have to awfully gullible to believe that one. The majority of Iraqis want us out. Why do you not support their wishes?

Communists, Marxists, Fascists, and Socialists stand against religion. One of the first tenets of Communism is the destruction of religion as it destroys the belief that all things come from the state.

Must be a flaw in your thinking if most Democrats are religious.

The Democrats and Leftists have done more to destroy the Constitution than any other single entity.

Except the Republicans and Rightists.

Got to go to work, I'll finish the rest of your rhetoric shortly.

ok, back.

It was the Democrats who stood against the 1964 Civil Rights Act

That was a bill introduced by Kennedy (Dem) and supported by the majority of both parties.

and it was Democrats who stood in the schoolhouse doors and prevented Blacks from entering. It was Democrats who had to have the threat of military action brought to bear against them for them to allow integration.

If you check your history you'll see that the south used to be solidly Democrat and that they started moving to Republican in large part because the Dems were pro-Civil Rights.

Mother died after epidural 'was injected into her arm instead of her spine'

Mayra Cabrera suffered a heart attack after an epidural anaesthetic was pumped into her arm
A nurse died two hours after giving birth when an epidural anaesthetic was injected into her arm instead of her spine, an inquest heard yesterday.

And in a cruel twist, Mayra Cabrera's husband is facing deportation - because his wife is no longer working.

Mrs Cabrera, 30, moved from the Philippines in 2002, to begin work as a theatre nurse at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

Her husband Arnel followed a year later and found work at the same hospital.

He was granted a visa until February this year on the condition of his wife's work.

The couple were thrilled to discover Mrs Cabrera was pregnant.

But when she went into labour on May 11, 2004, something went terribly wrong.

Mrs Cabrera was given an epidural anaesthetic, but the drip was wrongly connected to a line into her right arm, intended for a painkiller or saline solution, the inquest heard.

Her baby, Zac, was delivered with forceps at 8.14am. But by 9am Mrs Cabrera was feeling dizzy.

She began to fit and had heart attack, dying hours later.

Coroner David Masters said: "In the early stages of the resuscitation a bag of Bupivacaine for epidural was found to have been set up and attached to the patient's right hand.

"Dr Benedict Maxwell directed that the bag be detached immediately.

"He did not consider at that time that this was relevant to the death but the present diagnosis was an amniotic fluid embolism."

Frankly, I think way too much emphasis is placed on health care, to the point that we've ruined the gene pool, by continually saving people that evolution would have seen dead long before breeding.

 Of course, I'd be dead now but...

right on, timmy, right on. i'm sure you'll be playing the same tune when you get a couple years older and start having acute health issues. *punch*

who's waiting? I'm coughing up blood every morning and loving every minute of it. If there's a part of me that doesn't hurt in the morning, I panic that it might have fallen off.

Frankly, I've already propagated, and I see no good reason to drag things out. The average male in my family dies early naturally. I fully expect to be cold before I retire. I'm looking forward to it.

Well if one of your children developed acute health issues I suppose you'd let that go too? No reason to save people right?

Considering what he wrote...saving people is what screws up the gene pool. He's, of course, quite correct.

Thousands of lives at risk under NHS plans to cost-cut on heart devices, doctors warn
Last updated at 21:57pm on 16th January 2008

Thousands of lives could be at risk if a cost-cutting ban on life-saving heart devices is rubber stamped today, doctors warned.

The Health Service could be told to stop issuing drug-coated stents, tiny tubes inserted into arteries which release drugs to prevent the arteries narrowing again.

These are better for some patients than standard, bare metal ones but cost double the price at £600 each.

Last summer the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence said that although drug-eluting stents work, they were not cost-effective.

It is about to give its verdict on the matter.

Around 30,000 patients a year in the UK are treated with the devices but cardiologists estimate 12,000 of these would have to be treated with open heart bypass surgery as an alternative rather than a bare metal stent.

Not only would this be more expensive, the NHS could not cope with a 50 per cent rise in operations.

The British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, which has campaigned against a ban, said it could end up costing an extra £60million a year.

Spokesman Dr Martyn Thomas said: "It's a ludicrous situation because the Nice committee assumes cardiologists will default to using bare metal stents and save the NHS money.

"They have got it completely wrong."

He likely died waiting to start waiting for healthcare.

Elderly man lay dead in hospital parking lot for two days

An elderly man lay dead, slumped over the steering wheel of his car, for two days in the parking lot of an English hospital.

Police said they were alerted by paramedics at around 11:00am local time Saturday after the body of a man was found at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, southwestern England, the Plymouth Herald reported Wednesday.

The 79-year-old, who was not identified, is thought to have gone to the hospital to keep a routine appointment last Thursday.

Initial investigations suggest his body may have remained undisturbed until it was found two days later. An autopsy will be carried out in the next few days.

A police spokesman told the newspaper, "The deceased man is believed to be in his late seventies and was from the Plymouth area. Detectives do not believe this is a suspicious death at this time. An investigation is being carried out, and police are liaising with the coroner."

Investigators seized the car and were studying video footage from the parking lot in an attempt to discover the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
