Port authority to search persons and bags on commuter trains

meh. seems a little overboard, but the patco does go right over the ben franklin bridge and a bomb there would do a lot of damage.

    Google "Instant" ...

That's nothing new with "Instant", the old search would do that too... it comes up: Showing results for cmc paircheck. Search instead for cmc pairchek Then you have to hit it. It's annoying, but I guess most people are stupid. Kinda like how MS word will constantly change spelling and...

Republicans tried to change the Constitution at least 42 times in the current congres

Re: Republicans tried to change the Constitution at least 42 times in the current con well, then they're not judicially conservatives, they are conservative judicials.

Republicans tried to change the Constitution at least 42 times in the current congres

Re: Republicans tried to change the Constitution at least 42 times in the current con Well, no, not really. a judge who is 'judicially conservative' does not seek to impose the current politics or their own opinions on a ruling, but rather makes the decision in line with the...

The guy who claims to have written the health care bill admits he hasn't read it

It was probably a couple of interns working 80 hours a week who wrote it while he was playing golf.

    Arizona bill 1070

I was in Phoenix last week. I got some family out there. It seemed nice. I didn't see any shady looking people. It appeared to be very safe, without any riff-raff or gangs or any of that crap that we have in NYC. Oh, and, for the record, I saw a huge amount of Mexican-American people. It's...

    California: Finally Spending Smarterer'est

It's just a sham to impress people. By far, the most important aspect in the classroom is the teacher. Not the quality of the furnishings, or of the books, or of the technology. It's still the teacher. With so many teacher lay-offs recently, this is a giant middle finger to any laid-off...

Republicans tried to change the Constitution at least 42 times in the current congres

Re: Republicans tried to change the Constitution at least 42 times in the current con spike, you're missing the distinction. The Constitution is not 'set in stone'. It's been amended (changed) over two dozen times. There is a specific procedure to go through making changes to the...

If the construction workers won't build the mosque, who will?

Breaking News - This just in: people are ignorant, and willing to make sweeping generalizations about a huge group of people based on the actions of a minority within them. More at 11. Back to you, Jim.

    bad car luck

I like money. My parents like money. I like to keep my money for when I do need it. In a several years, I'll buy a place. But now, I'd only be looking to rent. Money spent on rent is money gone for good. There's no return on it. If I can work and not pay rent, that's what I'll do.

    bad car luck

Why? My parents pay the same property taxes if there are three people living the house instead of two people. My parents pay the same mortgage and the same heating bill if there are three people living in the house instead of two people. There is a marginal increase in water use and energy...

    bad car luck

I'm not in a rush to get another set of wheels. I can carpool to work with my dad easily if I am living at home. I won't need my own car until I am not living at home and can't just borrow one of my parents' cars, and I am not sure when that will be.

    bad car luck

Eh, I don't bother driving when I'm at school because of how much parking/driving/having a car SUCKS in Hoboken. $100 a month for a permit that allows me to possibly find street parking five blocks away from where I live, if I'm lucky. Oh, and if I forget it's street cleaning day, they'll get a...

Bloomberg on the proposed Muslim community center

I didn't know it used to be a Burlington Coat Factory. That's one of my favorite places to go shopping for clothes. And I'm in that neighborhood all the time, because I only live about two miles away. I guess there's still Syms and Century 21, though. Most stores in Manhattan are so expensive...

Bloomberg on the proposed Muslim community center

Take Rush Limbaugh seriously, spike. Him and his Klanmates have been lobbying for years to get that Gettysburg monument built, and he's just pissed that the dirty A-rabs beat him to it.

Ted Stevens dies in plane crash

well, yeah. you need a modulator to take the big thing you want to dump and make it fit into the tubes (converting it into binary electrical or optical signals).

Ted Stevens dies in plane crash

actually, that's fairly accurate as any quick derivation of Gauss' Law can tell you, the current density cross section of a wire carrying an electrical signal most closely resembles a tube. All of the charge carriers are on the outer surface, with the center being somewhat 'hollow' in terms...
