    How's your garden doing?

That's what I grow in my garden every year like a perennial... the red Swiss Chard. It's very tasty cooked like greens with bacon. I am sooooooo going to make this dish when I get back from my trip to France (I leave on Sunday and I'm back on 10/5).

Libertarians issue warning to Tea Partiers

Some people I know who got on the Tea Party band wagon when it first came out have cut ties. I get the impression that they (and others) are more than a little embarrassed by some of the things that are said. They are also disappointed with the way dissenters are treated. Many of the members...

Surprise! Koran burner idiot is a radical nutcase

Holy mother of pearl there's a lot to respond to in this thread. 1) Dawah is an invitation, or summons, for understanding. So Islamic Dawah means to invite Muslims and non-Muslims alike to a dialogue of understanding what Islam means and what it means to worship "God" (Allah). Not sure why...

    How's your garden doing?

OMG... that sounds so delicious. I assume you don't have to peel the tomatoes. Am I right? I don't see a reference to peeling.

    How's your garden doing?

I don't normally sew the turnips for greens, I like the bulbs. I've not found a turnip that was good for both. Either the greens are too rough or the bulb is not good. Have you ever tried Swiss Chard. Divine! And way easy to grow.

CBO: Eight Years of Iraq War Cost Less Than Stimulus Act

You can not force freedom on people. They have to want it as bad as we wanted it when we broke from England. They have to want it as bad as France wanted it when they destroyed their monarchy. They have to want it as bad as India wanted it when they pushed Great Brittan to give them their...

Mount St. Helens Still Oozing Lava

Really? I heard nothing like that. (But then I haven't been looking for information on Yellowstone.)

    End of an era

I used to watch Gone With The Wind just about every year with my mom. I recall the little girl who played Bonnie. I didn't know she was the voice of Faline in Bambi.

CBO: Eight Years of Iraq War Cost Less Than Stimulus Act

Bush's approval rating was pretty freakin' low when he left office. So low that Republicans did not want him to endorse them in the elections. Bush left office in 2009 with a 22% rating. He was "one of the most unpopular departing presidents in history."...

Mount St. Helens Still Oozing Lava

Would sorta suck if Mt St. Helens spewed again.

CBO: Eight Years of Iraq War Cost Less Than Stimulus Act

Ummmm... The deficit was already in the trillions when Bush left office on Jan 20th, 2009. It was also in the trillions when he started in 2001. I'm not sure where the information you gave came from but my source is from the treasury... http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/NPGateway Under G. W...

    FINALLY!!!

I'm glad you found this one. There really hasn't been a lot of attention to the Muslims in the US that have been condemning the terrorists non-stop. Yes, this particular group of Americans have been quite vocal. I suppose it's about time the media paid some attention to them. I agree with...

Bloomberg on the proposed Muslim community center

Wow, this thread has really veered off the track. LOL! Off Topic Central! LOL! I don't think that Republicans, as a group, are racists. I do not think that conservatives, as a group, are racists. I do believe that most Right-Wing Christians are xenophobes (in the sense that they fear...

    How's your garden doing?

Something ate almost all of my pole beans and my tiny squash plants. But 7 out of 10 asparagus beans are growing where as they all but 2 died when planted in the spring.

    El baile del perrito

I was reading some of the comments about people having a problem with dogs being trained for dancing (walking on their hind legs). Dogs have been trained for centuries for various purposes (hunting, entertainment, guarding humans, sniffing for drugs, finding termites in homes). There has long...

Prop 19: Marijuana Legalization Gets its Number in California

Alcohol addiction, as well as drug addiction, food addiction, gambling addiction and sex addiction, are caused by the mental benefit the individual receives and the inability of the individual to moderate. Some people have an addictive personality. Some things are more addicting because of the...

Bloomberg on the proposed Muslim community center

I don't mean to dismiss your posts, cat. I never saw an answer to what I had asked. I apologize if you answered my question and I didn't see it. There's been a lot of trolling in this and other threads so it's been hard to keep up with the debate. I suppose my position on this is as so... If...

Prop 19: Marijuana Legalization Gets its Number in California

Spike, I'm pretty sure this is what he's saying. It doesn't matter if it's pot or liquor. If someone becomes addicted then the tax payers shouldn't have to bail them out.

Prop 19: Marijuana Legalization Gets its Number in California

I believe you are right about most consensual crimes, and this is why vise usually ends up in the hands of organized crime (see my thread on Mexico's Drug War).
