Word. ;) I was Mirlyn on HWC and followed the OT-closing crowd. Lurked for a few years and then joined. Slowly started tapering off with the bookfacers. I'm more fond of the twitters and G+ now.

We're fighting this year. Tomatoes looked good, but last months hailstorm shredded everything. Killed the lettuce and spinach. Radishes, onions, chard, zucchini, squash and the herbs were pretty bad, but have begun bouncing back this past week. Tomatoes are still about half what they used to be...

You're asked in the installer if you want auto updates. I believe its default turned off--havent installed the desktop version in over a year. Since the bootloader got updated with a newer kernel, it sounds like the updates are set to install automatically or it was otherwise updated.

Sounds like you either opted to do the dist upgrade inadvertently or maybe are set to automatically update/upgrade.

They can and will. Congress hasn't done anything but pass an option to edit the US Code. What the press isn't saying is that this bill does nothing by itself. Unless the President, Sec of Defense, and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff certify a committee report finding that everyone can play...

Except, he did no such thing. Perhaps we should read the bill before we congratulate him. ...and why the hell 15 pens? Would like to know who in "the club" got one...

If you try to google for this bill, you get many sites with the full text of the proposed bill. If you add "tsa" or "seeds", its an entire page of blogs, no bill text. Hmm.

Never heard of a distance like that, at least with passive tags anyway. I'm no expert, but wouldn't an activated card with a range like that cause havoc in something like a warehouse or customs desk with multiple terminals or other multiple-reader situation (even the front counter at a McD's...

The 10' number would be pretty close, but its highly directional to gain the range and avoid the misreading.
