Rules....i don't know if there are any rules. Only time limits but i'd have to ask around to be sure.

I was wondering whether they had to carve each piece out of a giant block of ice or whether they were allowed to "add bits", if you see what I mean. I supect you can spray on water and then "tease" something into a particular shape - much easier to do spikes etc that way than to hack them out of a solid block.

Well many of those used multiple blocks so i'm sure you could use small pieces as well. A single block being something like 3ftx4ftx7ft. Not sure if they even need water. You'd be amazed what they can do with a chainsaw and some buffing tools.

actually, water is used to stick pieces back together if a small part breaks off
