Half of the citizens of Chicago didn't want the Olympic Games. The Olympics do not do anything for a city but put it into debt. It's an expensive venture and will never bring a profit. I believe in all of the modern history of the Olympics only once did a city turn a profit and that was questionable.

Chicago losing the Olympic bid was a blessing. I'm not sure how they would have justified spending that kind of cash in this economy.
