There's just nothing more patriotic than hassling and arresting people with t-shirts you don't like.

A fine day for the advancement of Liberty and Freedom.

I bet Ashcroft has a hard on tonight. Disagreeing is one thing but let there be a rational limit

This is one of the few instances where i've felt that large lawsuits might actually benefit our society.

I saw that. I think that was hardly a distraction or cause for the mall to go ape like they did. Its not like they were loitering and causing a ruckus. A single employee taking umbrage at it is simply no cause.

The American public wanted "Homeland Defense" & The Patriot Act. I hope they're happy.

Word is that the Bush administration has even more legislation waiting in the wings but they won't try to push it through until the next big attack.

I think we had that rammed down our throats before we even knew what all the implications were.

wow i didnt think shit like this happens but i guess i was wrong. doesnt this violate the first amendment? 1984 anyone?? better watch your thoughts all

No it doesn't violate the first amendment. The mall is private property and can refuse patronage to anyone it feels like without giving cause. They didn't say that they couldn't wear the tshirts ever... just not on their property.

Yeah, after reading the first post is when I made my earlier post, but if you read the article, it's not quite as bad as it sounds. There were signs posted that say clothing that is likely to provoke is prohibited. I do think the mall people went a little too far here, but the man refused to cooperate or leave too, so what do you do?

Same principle goes for the school.

In general, there are limitations of just this nature placed on a great many places. Immodest dress isn't allowed in church, nor would a Slayer tshirt. Schools don't allow the stars and bars, alochol, or tobacco to be displayed. Shirts displaying nudity or gore are rarely allowed anywhere.

I'd heard he had bought the shirt at the "MALL" in question. That would give me the idea that the t-shirt wouldn't conflict with the "wearing of apparel... likely to provoke disturbances... is prohibited" sign.

One may buy crotchless peekaboo panties at the mall as well... but just try wearing them there for all to see.
I bet if you walked around the mall with them on your head, noone would say anything to you.:eek3:
