What a scathing report. The damage control needed to cover up the years of...wait, hold everything. Stop. This commission did the exact same thing every American did. Blamed the US Intelligence services. The report spreads around the blame but in the end, it's the CIA & the FBI...we spent how many tens of millions to know the exact same thing any of us could have told them on day one. A farce then & a farce now.

...the goverment was "not active enough in combating the terrorist threat" in advance of the attacks.
Kean said the nation is safer now than it was on 9/11 but, as he put it, "We are not safe."
He said blows have been struck against terrorists, and attacks have been prevented -- but he says the nation still faces one of the greatest security challenges in its history.
He concluded, "We cannot let our guard down."
Panel vice-chairman Lee Hamilton says the nation "needs to play offense" against the terrorists-to kill or capture them before they can strike, and to deny them sanctuaries.
He also says countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia need to be kept stable and resolute -- and that the U-S needs to "sustain a coalition of nations" that can cooperate against terrorism.
Public Law 107-306 provided for the reprogramming of $3 million for the Commission. Congress subsequently appropriated, and the President signed into law, an additional $11 million appropriation for the Commission. Recent legislation authorized an additional $1 million, bringing the Commission’s total budget to $15 million.
The Commission is confident that it can fulfill its mandate with this amount. We appreciate very much the support of Congress and the President for this level of funding.
