A little bit overboard

I understand people being sympathetic about the events of Sept. 11. Some people go overboard though. I have heard of people petitioning to have various products, videos, etc banned because they depict the twin towers. I understand why a CD was removed from the shelves because it depicted the towers being hit (it was released BEFORE the attack) but if it's just a picture or video of the towers I see no reason to remove it from shelves. Also, someone once told brainsoft that he won't even let his identical twin boys stand side by side now out of respect for the twin towers! That's ALOT overboard!

yes, my thought preciselly.

a while ago i heard that a group of "fanatics" is trying to change the title of the new Lord Of the Rings movie, apparently, they find "the two towers" title as a remind of their tragedy.

Sept. 11 is a tragedy. I can't even fathom how I would feel in that situation. But we have to put it in some sort of perspective. Thousands of innocent Americans died, they didn't deserve that.

For me, I wouldn't ban images of the towers from videos, etc. That's erasing a part of history. No matter how awful history is, we shouldn't forget it.

You're kidding me, right? Jeeeeeeez!

People who try to "ban" something because they show the twin towers are violating our Constitution that guarantees free speech.

Thank goodness for that.

I think it would be a shame to eradicate images of the Towers. I've been to New York twice and have pictures of the Towers from both trips. They are images to be cherished, not hidden. What I really wish is that they would thumb their noses at the terrorists and rebuild them bigger and better.

btw, what are they going to do there?

i've only heard rumours about new towers, a park.........but only rumours. Anybody know for sure if a project is already "on the table"?

I don't think anything has been finalized. Cnn has a page that has the submissions of what to do. I think the total Memorial idea has been scrapped, as it should be.

The proposals were on MSNBC and CNN about 2 weeks ago. A couple were quite nice...

not seen the proposals properly, but i'm not geting much archi-press these days. last i heard it was a part-build part park in most proposals.

if anyone is interested in it, there is a competition for the pentagon memorial. i think its an open compo, but the details were only made public 10 days or so ago so time is short.

well theyre trying to be sensitive or to be non euphamistic and bull-shitty, theyre jsut plowing theyre beliefs on it. radio stations were given a list of bands that were "suggested" to be horrific and songs as well which if they were played, the station would be fined.(i may have the facts a bit screwed up but thats the gist of it) and as far as brainsoft someone is jsut being an ass. i dont see what that has to do with the twin towers(ill problly get chewed out for that but humans vs buildings hmmmm anyone think this is jsut shit or am i alone?) and the two towers is also not a joke. and as shadowfax said it was written several years before this happened.overboard is a bit of an understatement there.
