I was packing some stuff upstairs for Leah yesterday when i accidentally bumped the nitelight in the upstairs hallway with my leg and knocked it out of its socket. I plugged it back in and all seemed fine. Later that night after coming out of the bathroom and turning off all the lights i noticed that the nitelight which has maybe a 5watt bulb seemed unusually bright. In fact it was glowing like you'd expect a 60watt bulb and then i noticed it was getting brighter. I was kind of wierded out being overly tired so i reached down to grab it and turn it off when it literally exploded in my face! I couldn't believe it the thing blew apart in 100 pieces. I was fortunate the bulb was made of plastic and not glass or i'd have a face full of shrapnel.
I'm still trying to picture the physics of how the damn thing could actually explode.
Be careful next time, though. You never know what terrorists will be cooking up next time.
