A Pope with a message

And before you start, yes, there is a way to consult Him. It has to do with His representative on earth, a.k.a. the Pope. You want a divorce in the RC church, you petition the Pope. He checks with God.

Or, you can be Protestant, and go to Him directly without having to use a pope as mediator.

Just pointing it out...

Yes, you can, but we're discussing the RC church right now, not English kings with VD.

I'd like to know, howcome is it that Catholics can apparently be forgiven for absolutely anything but divorce just by asking and reciting a few poems?

Why can they not be forgiven for divorce too?

You mean you didn't understand the explaination I posted above?

Ok, I'll try again. Sins are failures. Mistakes. And usually inter-personal in nature.

Divorce is breaking a contract with God.

Oh, and not all sins are forgivable. Last time I checked, suicide isn't forgiven by the Last Rites.

lol suicides can't recite/perform their penances, now can they? :p
And that one strikes me too. It's eventually ok to kill someone else, but not onesself. :retard:

Anyway. I am aware of the concept. I helped my friend through an annulment awhile back. That was a joy :blank:

What I get stuck on is...I still cannot fathom that making the mistake of breaking a vow to someone else and/or God is a more serious and unforgiveable mistake than a murder or other more heinous act. Especially when the divorce itself is through no fault of one of the parties. For that to be unforgiveable enough that that person must make the choice of living utterly alone through the remainder of their life or give up every iota of their spiritual life and support system is just wrong (in my opinion). I know that's the way it is and it ain't changing, I just find it sad for those stuck in it.

One of the reasons I've generally supported the Jews & the Catholics is they don't change the rules as the wind blows. The book says it & they tend to use that basis.

You almost make it look like catholics follow the rules :rofl4:

If you'd like, I could take the time to explain it all in detail, and in ways that could eventually make sense for you, but I can't help but think you'd be better served by going to church with your son one sunday, and asking the priest to supper one night. Then, at least, you'd get it straight from the horse's mouth, and without my biases and corruptions.

But British inbreds with VD are so much more fun....

:mope:

You kidding? We get to drink during mass! Plus every Catholic church picinic I've been to had a minimum of 2 kegs.

Thats why the Pope should make homosexual unions a requirement. That way noone would ever do it. Heterosexuality would instantly come into vouge.

Am I the only atheist around here (started off an atheist, parents forced a non-denominational church on me, but quickly gave up:lol: )?
