according to CNN, he got 1% of the vote.

would being on the next ballot be signature based or is there a 'must have a percentage of the vote' rule?

As long as he can get enough real names on a petition, he can be placed on the ballot. Each state requires it's own petition, and it's own populace to make the request legal, though... :devious:

Good...he has a shot again then.

I'm glad you can't vote in our election, then. Nader is a complete nutcase. If I had a choice between Nader and Kerry, only, I'd pick Kerry... :lloyd:

Hell, I'd vote for my mother's pet cat before Nader, but a lot of folks disagree. Thankfully, not enough to matter.....

did I say I'd vote for him?

I think the man deserves a shot. And that people in general need to be voting their consciousnesses, not the lesser of two evils.

That, I'll agree with. We need a viable third party. The problem is that Nader simply isn't viable.

Problem is...the Dems and the Repubs won't let a third party to the table. They'd lose too much power.

I think if McCain a democrat that's close to the center would run (Joe Lieberman and Evan Bayh come to mind) as independents they would have a real shot at victory. I also have wondered what would have happened if Ross Perot has stayed in the race from beginning to end in 1992. It was a virtual 3 way tie when he dropped out the first time.

The problem with all the current 3rd parties is that they are all too extreme. The Greens may as well call them selves the Pinkos. The Libertarians live in their own world of principle and ideology (principle and ideology I mostly agree with…in principle). Perot's old party, the Reform Party, was hijacked by Pat Buchanan; I haven't heard a peep from them since.

I'm voting Bull Moose in 2008. Or maybe Whig, I haven't decided.

Actually, McCain is a Republican...and I'd've voted for him before anybody else. Howard Dean, for all of his 'bluff and bluster' could've gotten my vote as well...

I know McCain's a Republican, that's what I'm saying :) He's pretty close to the center, Bayh and Lieberman are close to the center...I don't see why there isn't a moderate party made of individuals like these three. I bet they could get 40% of the vote.

No way in hell i'd have voted Howard Dean. I still believe that a Powell/McCain or McCain/Powell ticket could have wiped the floor both Bush and Kerry though. McCain has gained a huge amount of support/respect since his loss in 2000 and Powell has always had heavy support on both sides of the isle. Sometimes i wonder about the intelligence of the house/senate. These guys might not have had the support of of the drug manufacturers but they would have had the support of the people.

Because they are milquetoast. Unoffensive & tasteless. They have no heart & no soul, no reason to incite emotion. Even when they describe a common belief it sounds boring.

A black man cannot get elected in America (even if he's Colin Powell). Neither can a woman, so you can stop worrying about Hillary.

*I'm an opinionated asshole and I approved this message.*

Aside from the comedy, you're wrong on both counts. Hillary will be the next president and Powell is the only person that can stop her but he won't run because his wife won't let him. Anyone who says women don't have power is lacking insight.

I don't know if she'll win, but she'll sure as hell run. Who knows, Obama from IL might be her runningmate. Judging by the soccer moms around where I live, she stands a frighteningly good chance, too.

Sorry Hex, you're living in a fantasy. We are an incredibly long way from electing a minority or a woman. The Dems might run her (if they're even bigger fools than I think they are), but a woman is still unelectable as president in our country. Colin Powell is way to smart to be that particular racial lightning rod. I suppose you think the Klan and their like are all gone? Frankly, even Leiberman is unelectable because he's Jewish.

Look at the radical liberal movement in this country. kerry sucked. Not only will she get everyone that voted for Gore but a better majority of the minority vote and a huge majority of the womens vote. She can't lose. That and take into account just how Iraq will look after another four years(not good imo). It's going to happen.
