Gato, I originally replied to a post in this thread where you implied that welfare is the root cause for drugs , unwed mothers and violent crime by saying they have a direct correlation. You don't think there may be other factors that have caused these increases besides welfare, do you?

Arguing with right wingers is pointless, I don't know why I even try. Maybe I should give it up for Lent.

While welfare may not be a 'root cause', as you put it, it sure makes things easier, doesn't it? I can name several people I know (I won't because of privacy issues) that will not get a job, but will open their legs every time a child of theirs gets to be 4 years old because it will keep them on welfare from cradle to grave. Why should they care about being responsible/getting a job/living by the sweat of their brow, when the government tells them that they don't have to? Open your eyes, rr.

As for your mom doing what she had to do to feed her kids, I say this...If your father passed away while you were young, then you have my condolences. If your father didn't pay his child support, then it was he who was irresponsible, and should've had to pay for raising his own children, not my parents, my neighbors, et al. You, personally, seem to have serious issues when it comes to taking hand-outs from the government, and well you should, but don't debase me when you have nothing of your own to add. Welfare is nothing but a trap set forth by the government to get citizens dependent upon the free handouts.

I'll sum up here.

There are 3 kinds of people. Those who want to work, those who cannot work, and those who won't work. Which are you?
