NBC Anchor Brokaw to Sign Off on Dec. 1
ADVERTISEMENT

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - NBC has confirmed that Dec. 1 will be Tom Brokaw's last day on the job as anchor of the "NBC Nightly News."
Brian Williams will take over the network's signature newscast the following day.

Brokaw, 64, already had announced his intention to step down after the conclusion of this year's presidential race. He has been at the helm of "Nightly News" since 1983.

Actually, it's Dan Rather who I'd, umm, rather see go. He's the same guy who was prominent at a Democratic fundraiser and expects people to see him as a source for impartial and unbiased news.

I will admit, though, that even though some didn't like the weird stuff he was saying during the brouhaha after the 2000 election, I found it rather amusing.

Oh, for the record, "Kenneth, what's the frequency?" is Dan Rather, too, not Tom Brokaw.

would you ratehr all news have a conservative slant or none? none is the best but like Chcr said it aint real

News can be unbiased & impartial. No money it that apparently.

freako-we don't need all conservative all the time news. we also don't need all liberal all the time either.
Fox, WSJ, Drudge.
vs.
CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, Time, NewsWeek...etc.

Hardly a balanced diet.

it would be nice to have totally unbiased news but again it aint gunna happen though if your right with what you said it is unbalanced and unfair to you guys who are conservative

...and to those of us who have gone to school to learn how to write an unbiased story and to save the editorializing for the opinion page.

IMO there is no such thing as "unbiased",the fact you are reporting means you have an interest .Not to worry ,I'm not attacking print journalists per se,even a photograher must make a decision as to what to photograph and what not to,this skews the final output.IMHO

Sure, the reporter has an interest... but the reporter is supposed to do just that, report. Not analyze. Always get both sides of a story. The only way opinions should show up in hard news stories is when they're quotes from people interviewed for the story.

Actually, yes. Hearing what the rest of the world is hearing strikes me as fairly important, doncha think?

If they are saying something different than CNNbs, CBS, ABCbs, NBCbs, MSNBCbs... yes. Since they aren't, why?

I am not a major but my media appreciation class said that the news is supposed to be unbiased but because of who owns the network and repoter's own opinions, it is not sadly.

gonz: to get more of a view as to how the rest of the world feels. besides dont you hate CNN? you used to have teh shut down CNN story in your sig

and once again I sya to get a feeling for what the rest of the world or at least Britian thinks. all of those companies you mentioned are American. Or does it not matter to you what others think?
