Arab press weighs in on the war

there has been a great acceptance that the war is going slower than planned and there is much more resistance than expected.

Whose plan? The press? I never heard a single military man say this was going to be quick & easy. That was us, hoping.

US military were saying they expected UMM Qasar and Basra to not put up a fight .

I think any military officials were fully aware that resistance was a realistic probability. Elected officials might have been a bit more clueless. :)

I certainly didn't think this would be a walk in the park. They knew we were coming for months, and had ample time to prepare. To say that the war is going worse or slower than planned is a bit overly condemning IMO. By most measures, the war is going very well.

Sure, there was certainly hope that there might be mass surrenders, but I doubt that was planned for.

I know this will start a fight & that is not my intentions but I have to ask anyway...

in 13 days of fighting the coalition has amassed over 8,000 POWs, mostly surrendering forces. When does mass surrender begin to count?

Are POWs and "surrendering forces" the same? In the first days of the WAR those surrendering were told to go home? There was a 8000man battalion that surrendered and the next day there was only 2000 POWs. I realize that they have probably switched tactics in allowing them to go home and thereby being rounded up by the Militia and being FORCED to fight.Just wondering if they are the same or not?

Supposed to be. Soldiers become POWs, no matter how they were obtained.
