Back to it

I've been working on a data-recovery all year long....
he brought it to me on NY-day. :nerd:

It's a 60gig deathstar, and it's giving me a migraine. :suicide:

I haven't actually been able to pull data yet, but it's spinning, and the SMART
is ok, and a couple of little dos utils have been able to read some, just not
transfer yet.
I've got several more utils to try before giving up on it. :eek6:
SONOFABITCH! *pulls out hair by the handfuls*

I was in the 16th hour of recovering the primary partition, and the power went out
just long enough to run the UPS out. (now has to start over)
Man I just want to scream. :crying4:

Now you know as well as I do that UPSs aren't meant to keep you running, but to give you enough time to do a controlled shutdown. Shame on you.

Wouldn't he have had to start over anyway if he did a controlled shutdown? I think that's known as being fuxx0red seven ways from Sunday.

eggzacly :crying4:

It's a dos program running for the UBCD....the "partition-saving" program part of it.
I've got it on a 500VA....I really am thinking of going to Sam's club and getting the 1100VA now. :alienhuh:

I was suppose to be back on tuesday. Unfortunately, I got the stomach flu, that turned into a migraine that just doesn't want to go away. I stayed home yesterday, went in for just half the day today because the neon lights were starting to make my head pound even more and the nausea was coming back. Have also been running a fever since monday night varying from 99.9 to 102.4. Happy fucken new year to me!

well I just finish this job.
By far, it had to be one of the hardest recoveries I've ever done.
I hope I never see another one of those drives.

yep, he was well pleased. (just now picked it up)
He's one of my best ones. He also had me put in a Liteon burner, like I just got for myself,
and a promise sata controller, and seagate drive upgrade replacement.
Oh, it was smooth then.
He always pays cash, and it was a good little chunk this time. :)
Time for a vacation. :glasses:

eh, .....
80% of that is covered, and I've already got a substantial credit due me, built
up with this doc, because of a clerical error. :)

You do realize that you just put each and every D&D fan into convulsions of laughter, and will be getting the cleaning bills for many many monitors for that comment, doncha?

D&D fan ???
Man you just gotta understand how SS changes almost every day lately,
and how hard it is to find good office help because docs are out-sourcing half the paperwork...
And hey, this docs office is one of the better ones around here...trust me.

Somehow I managed a copy of the union contract that I may become party to. I'm sure most of you know my less than positive perception of unions. Well, it appears that even the unions know how dumb their genreal clientelle are...they tell them the truth.

The Contract said:
Intent & Purpose
It is the intent & purpose of the parties hereto that this Agreement shall promote and improve the industrial & economic relationships between the Employer and the Union representing the employees
