Bad week for nightclubs

Another one. Club didn't have a sprinkler system & the owner allowed the pyros :rolleyes:
Jack Russell (singer) said the sound man & one of the guitarists are missing too. :(
WEST WARWICK, R.I. - A nightclub erupted into flames during a pyrotechnics display at a rock concert, killing at least 54 people and injuring more than 150 as mobs of concertgoers frantically rushed to escape the raging fire.

I heard about the guitarist... but not the singer. The trouble with this one was that they turned off all of the lights to intensify the sparkler effect. They wern't turned back on so people could see the exits. Everyone tried to go out the one door that they came in even though there were 2 other doors in perfect order in plain sight. Fear overrode sensible action.

I've said it any number of times. Herd instincts. People are sheep. I don't want to detract from the tragedy of this. I'm just suprised it doesn't happen more often.
 
The nightly news here said three other doors, and the death count is at 96 now. They said there are three other club owners that said Great White performed there without telling them they were using Pyrotechnics too. Sounds like Great White is going to take the brunt of this one.

im not. generally when doing any kind of live show safety is always first they want to make sure everything works before the big night. sad that this happened and maybe im missing something but WTF are pyrotechnics doing in a club anyway????????????????? shit i cant beleive this has happened

If that's true, then the pyro is going to jail & Great White will forever be gone & broke.
 
I think legal responsibility falls unto the venue for not being vigilant or prepared. That is the opinion of the parade of lawyers and investigators that they ran through all of the news progams.
 
It'll fall on the venues insurance, most likely the owner is running off to Mexico by now. If the pyrotechnician knew he had to get permits & didn't, he'll be ultimately responsible. On the other hand, I've been around that shit & how the hell does the owner/manager miss 3,4,5 cannons sitting on the front of the stage? They do sound checks as they set up so somebody from the club had to see what they had. GW will get sued as will their label (if they still have one). That fire should not have spread that fast. Somethings amiss or it was made of matchsticks

No matter who fucked up, 96 people are dead & it's a shame.
 
More importantly, how did the pyrotech miss that the entire stage was surrounded in egg crate damping?
