Sounds like a good sentiment for the day. A slap in the face to the extremists that try to hijack the religion.
 
Offer Rejected to Move Mosque Away From Ground Zero to 'State Property'

While Paterson has "no objection" to the mosque being built a few blocks away from Ground Zero, he said he’s "very sensitive to the desire of those who are adamant against it to see something else worked out."

But Paterson said Wednesday that the developers told his office they weren't interested in moving.

"I think they would like to stay where they are, and I certainly respect that and I certainly respect them," Paterson said. "Having said that, how much more foresighted would it have been if the imam who is the developer of the project had been willing to hear what we are actually talking about?"

IMO this pretty much removes any remaining doubts
that they want to build there as a Symbol, and not a good one.
 
Sounds like they found a good spot and like it where it is. Good for them.

There was something on NPR this morning about them moving forward with their plan despite not getting the landmark status. The building isn't within sight of where the Twin Towers stood. I'm still not sure what the hubbub is despite that. I'm sure Christians will be trying to put up some remembrance whatnot for the tragedy also. I doubt there will be as much opposition when that happens. I find this a simple example of religious intolerance and I find it humorous that the opposition commentary comes from the same people that claim practicing Christians are discriminated against. LOL!

I would oppose tax payer money/land being given to any religious organization for this purpose. I'm happy they rejected the offer.
