Busting the Buskers

Montreal is starting to put the screws to the buskers (those people who play instruments on the streets or subways for coins), by increasing the charges for a license from $120/yr to $800/yr!!

Personally...I love the buskers. Beats the hell out of the traditional panhandlers and adds a certain measure of style to Montreal.

How does your city deal with buskers? How do you feel about them?
 
Our city simply looks at them or gives them money. I don't mind the ones that are playing music on the street mall and such. It's all the people on the corner holding signs that have name brand tennis shoes on. We have FAR too many of them in Denver.
