California legislature passes gay marriage bill

The California Legislature on Tuesday became the first legislative body in the country to approve same-sex marriages, as gay-rights advocates overcame two earlier defeats in the Assembly. The 41-35 vote sends the bill to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The bill's supporters compared the legislation to earlier civil rights campaigns, including efforts to eradicate slavery and give women the right to vote.

Yea but then again they are also the loudest. So we hear from them more than we would from the majority. On both ends.
 
The "majority" is scared shitless of being seen as ____ist, so they tuck tail and hide while giving away the farm. It's gonna bite 'em too.

“We cannot have a system where the people vote and the Legislature derails that vote,” the governor’s press secretary, Margita Thompson, said in a statement. “Out of respect for the will of the people, the governor will veto (the bill).”

Since I haven't watched this whole insanity I don't know if that's what's going on, but if it is, it's a good point.... And a cheap way to get what you want, lol.
 
And there are a few people out there complaining that Arnold sold out, even though a clear majority is against homosexual marriage. Is it that confusing to the folks on the left?

If she were a Dem, she'd add "so we'll pass it to the courts".
