Between this and this and this, are those who continually point out questionable actions & the obvious patterns of the current administration really crying wolf? The left media immediately went into blame Bush mode, forgetting that GW had sunset clauses in his version of the Patriot Act which Obama had removed, but neither GW nor Dick were accused of spying on Americans.


At which point do we begin calling it for it really is, tyranny?

if you had sarah p (or similar) in the white house and the same shit or a more extensive version (the more likely scenario) were happening you would (still) be riding around on your go-kart with a smile a foot wide.

I stand by that. What's the difference?

The Bush administration used it to target international calls, to & from nations where we have
specific issues. Not domestic calls.

The Bush administration, and the Republican majority Congress, had a two-year sunset clause
built into that legislation. The Obama administration & the Democrat majority Congress removed
that clause.

I will say that, now that we're no longer fighting a War on Terror, I'd like to see the Patriot Act
die (ugh oh, it can't). So maybe the Democrat controlled Senate will align itself with the Republican
controlled House & rescind the Patriot Act. While they are at it, let us bring home all our men and
women in uniform from Iraq & Afghanistan, since we are no longer fighting a war to win.

Keep digging minx, you'll also find me saying that traditionally, during war, we've lost rights and
freedoms which we've regained after the fighting was done. Well. listening to the current
administration, the fighting is done.

Giving up liberty for security is never justified, no matter what the war. But there was no "war" to begin with as you cannot have a war against something intangible.

Not to mention congress never declared a war since WWII. All these actions were unconstitutional to begin with as well.

The idea that the government wants to go after terrorists is a ruse. They use "terrorism" as a red herring. They want to go after enemies of the state.

what point are you trying to raise? if you don't understand how the nature of the threats we face has changed, i can't help you. i certainly don't approve of this level of scrutiny. but gonz's efforts to place blame and excuse his dipshit heroes from it are obvious and laughable at best. keeping the locals in line is a bi-partisan charade. and it has been going on for decades. jeez it's like gotholic is years ahead of you in some respects... o_O
