The magnitude 3.6 event occurred 1 km (1 miles) W of Simi Valley, CA.
The hypocentral depth is 14 km ( 9 miles).

I bet the poor folks in Simi Valley thought it was armageddon for a split second. Then they probably remembered that Californians don't even bother to notice earthquakes below 5.
