ANKARA, Turkey -- A court Friday convicted a man who approached Turkey's prime minister with a gun hidden in a loaf of bread and sentenced him to 11 years in prison.

Mustafa Bagdat was on trial in the northwestern city of Kutahya on charges of planning to assassinate Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a visit there last year.

I hope he didn't bake the loaf with the gun already inside it. That could have cooked off all of the ammo.

I wonder what kind of bread it was? semolina? baugette? pimento? I would hate to be assassinated by a pimento loaf. I would hold out for the dignity of a nice garlic bread.
